Could reflexology be as effective as painkillers?

Foot Therapy 22A recent article in the Yorkshire Evening Post highlighted a recent study into the positive effects of Reflexology in pain relief:

a recent study by the University of Portsmouth found that, in certain circumstances, it may be as effective as painkillers.

Around 40 per cent of those who had reflexology first were able to keep their hand in the water for longer before it felt painful, and 45 per cent were able to tolerate the pain longer.
